Susquehanna Brewing Company was founded in Pittston, Pennsylvania in 2010 by Ed Maier and his son Fred Maier, along with partner Mark Nobile. The elder Maier had previously owned the Stegmaier Brewing Company, which was founded in 1857 by his great-great-grandfather. In 1974, he closed that brewery and sold the brand to Lion Brewing Company. In 2022, he bought the brand back from Lion, and it is now owned by the Susquehanna company.
