Asmara Brewery, originally known as Melotti Brewery, was founded in 1938 in Asmara, Eritrea by Italian engineer Luigi Melotti. During the 1991 Eritrean War of Independence, the brewery was nationalized, and remains partially owned by the Eritrean government
