Cruz Blanca Brewing Company was founded in Chicago, Illinois in 2016 by Frontera 900, the parent company of Chicago restaurant Leña Brava. They take inspiration from a brewery of the same name that was founded in Mexico City, Mexico in 1869 by Emil Dercher.

In 2023, the brewery entered a strategic partnership with Molson Coors’ 10th and Blake craft beer division to have their beer produced and distributed in Texas. As a result of that partnership, beers sold there are made by Revolver Brewing, one of Molson Coors’ subsidiaries. In 2024, Molson Coors expanded this partnership by purchasing the brand from Frontera 900.
