DAB Beer (Dortmunder Actien Brauerei) was founded in Dortmund, Germany in 1868 by Laurenz Fischer, Heinrich and Friedrich Mauritz, and Heinrich Herberz. It was originally known as Herberz & Co Brewery, and in just four years it went public, changing its name to Dortmunder Actien Brauerei. The brewery was heavily damaged by World War II, but was rebuilt in 1949. In 2001, Binding Brauerei became the majority stakeholder, and the following year they gained total control of the company. Two years later, Binding was purchased by the German conglomerate Oetker Group, who renamed their beverage division Radeberger.
