Gray Brewing Company was founded in Janesville, Wisconsin in 1856 by Joshua C. Gray. The company was originally known as Gray’s Bottling Works, and produced both soft drinks and beer until the 1890s, when the company gave up brewing beer after pressure from the temperance movement. In 1993, the company began brewing beer again under the management of Gray’s great-great-grandson Fred Gray.
