Orkney Brewery was founded in Stromness, Scotland in 1988 by Roger White. In 2002, the company merged with fellow Scottish brewery Atlas Brewing to become Highlands & Islands Breweries. In 2006, the company was purchased by Norman Sinclair, who later discontinued the Atlas Brewing brand in favor of Orkney.
