Santa Monica Brew Works was founded in 2014 in Santa Monica, California by Scott Francis, Richard Super, and Carl Sharpley. Francis and Super were both executives in the performance industry when Super introduced Francis to Sharpley, the former manager of the Ye Olde Kings Head restaurant in Santa Monica. Sharpley had noticed that many guests were asking for a local beer, and he realized there was an opportunity to start a Santa Monica-based brewery.
