Schloss Eggenberg Brewery was founded in 1681 in Vorchdof, Austria by Michael Weissman. Weissman had purchased the castle of the same name and established a commercial brewery there. His family held it until 1803, when it was purchased by the Forstinger-Stöhr family. The Stöhr family still holds it, and it is currently managed by “beer somelier” Karl Stöhr.
