Stray Forth Hard Seltzer was introduced by Ale Asylum Brewery in Madison, Wisconsin in 2019. In 2023, Karben4 Brewing purchased the intellectual property of Ale Asylum, which closed the prior year, with the intention of having Karben4 brew the beers. However, part-owner in that company Alex Evans, who had not been active in the company since 2020, sued the other owners Ryan and Zak Koga, alleging that the deal was improperly done outside of the corporate structure of Karben4, and that they misappropriated corporate opportunities to enrich themselves. The lawsuit is ongoing.
