Walter’s Beer was founded in Pueblo, Colorado in 2013 by Andy Sanchez, Diana Bailey, and Bret Bezona. The name comes from a previous iteration of Walter’s Brewery, which was founded in Pueblo, Colorado in 1898 by Martin Walter. That company existed until 1975, when the company went bankrupt, and the trademark was sold to a different Walter Brewing Company in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, which was founded by Martin Walter’s brother Johannes in 1889. The Eau Claire brewery was sold in 1985, and the brand went out of production. In 2009, Northwoods Brewing in Eau Claire also started brewing a beer with the old Walter’s name, however the two companies are unaffiliated.
