Yeastie Boys Beer was founded in Wellington, New Zealand in 2008 by Stu McKinlay and Sam Possenniskie. In 2021, the company sold a 12.5% stake in the brand to KBE, which manages their production within the United Kingdom. McKinlay stepped away from the business in 2024, though he still retains his ownership stake in the brand.
