What does SWINKELS FAMILY BREWERS Own?
Swinkels Family Brewers dates back to 1680, when Dirk Vereijken owned a brewery in Lieshout, Belgium. The brewery passed down to daughters for three generations, and by 1773 Brigitta Swinkels became the owner. In the second half of the 19th century they expanded production, and in 1923 renamed to Bavaria Brewery, indicating that they were brewing pale lagers in the Bavarian style. In 1999 they took over production of La Trappe beers from the Koningshoeven monks, and in 2016 they purchased Palm Breweries. Two years later, they renamed from Bavaria Brewery to Swinkels Family Brewers. They are still owned by direct descendents of Dirk Vereijken.
