Uerige Brewery was founded in Düsseldorf, Germany in 1862 by Wilhelm Cürten. His son Max took over the business in 1886. After his death in 1902, the brewery was run by brewer Jean Keller and subsequently sold to him in 1912. In 1937 it was sold again to Rudolf Arnold, who held it until his death in 1976, when it was sold to Christa and Josef Schnitzler. Their son Michael now runs the company.
